TSA Can See Thru Your Clothes

Ok. So we have all heard about the new body scanners at airports across the country. And a lot of people are scared of them. There are questions of whether they are safe for children and pregnant women. And then there is just the creepyness factor... I mean people are basically seeing you naked. I found this interesting article that talks about some of these fears and answers a lot of questions. Click here for more.

What do you think? Personally... I don't care who sees me naked... if it is going to keep me and my family safe. Plus, the person looking at my body, has no idea who I am because supposedly they are in a different room.

7 Year Old Hero Calls 911

We had this story on the morning show today... and I was in shock listening to the 911 call. This little 7 year old boy acted quickly when three armed men stormed into his Norwalk home and ordered his parents onto the floor. The little boy, Carlos, grabbed his younger sister, went into a bathroom and locked the door. But not before grabbing a phone and dialing 9-1-1. He quite calmly explained the situation to the dispatcher. What an amazing little boy!

The LA Times excerpts the boy's call:

"There's some guy who's going to kill my mom and dad," he told the emergency dispatcher. "Can you come, please?

"Bring cops . . . a lot of them! . . . And soldiers too," the boy said. He told the dispatcher that he thought his parents had been shot.

Lindsay Lohan Sues E-Trade for $100 Million

I am sorry... but this story is truly ridiculous. Apparently Lindsay Lohan believes she is on the same level as Madonna or Oprah. There is an E-Trade commercial... you know the funny ones with the babies talking... anyways, the commercial refers to a baby girl named Lindsay. It calls her a milkaholic. It's quite entertaining. Well Lindsay believes the company should now pay her $100 million for using her name. Again, she believes she deserves the same single-name recognition as superstars like Madonna. So watch out people! You can't use the name Lindsay or you may be sued!

My baby is 1 1/2 today!

So today is a big day. My little boy is 18 months. I cannot believe how quickly time has flown by. I feel like it was only yesterday that he was this 9 lb baby who needed me at all times. And now he is becoming so independent... actually getting angry if I try to help him with ANYTHING. I think I will go get him a little potty training chair in celebration of this milestone. He is young... but seems quite interested with what's going on when mommy and daddy are using the restroom. We'll see how that goes.

Tiger's Ex Comes to His Defense

Ok... so here's more of the story that won't go away. In the interest of giving equal time to both sides... here is a woman who has nothing but good things to say about Tiger Woods. Apparently, his college girlfriend, Irene Folstrom, is coming out and defending the golfer claiming he was faithful to her while they dated while attending Stanford. Folstrom spoke to Golf.com about her relationship with Tiger.

The part I don't get... is the following statement she made:

"The Tiger I knew was loyal, devoted and self-controlled. I’m not naive, but I can say with certainty that he was faithful during the time we dated. The speculation that he's being treated for sex addiction is surprising because we enjoyed a normal sexual relationship."

Uh... enough already. Seriously. Folstrom says she is not getting paid to make these comments, she just wants to support an old friend. But quite honestly, is her coming out really helping him? I mean, if I were Elin I would be staying away from all the media... but if I heard someone from my husbands past come forward acting like they know him, and talking about their sexual history... that wouldn't be helping.

I'm just saying.

10 Years Old and Divorced

This is a book I will HAVE to read. It is about a Yemeni girl... forced to marry a man in his 30's. The autobiography describes her experiences as a child bride, crying in a corner at her own wedding, and then basically raped by her husband. She was repeatedly beaten by her husband... and after all that... got the nerve to escape one day and demand a divorce from a judge. What a brave girl. A political orphan in Sacramento

So Abel Maldonado seems to alone these days. Rejected by his own Republican Party when he decided to vote in FAVOR of temporary increased taxes... explaining that he felt this was the only way to save California. He is also being rejected by Democrats who are not letting his actions sway their vote to confirm him as Lieutenant Governor of California. You see... you need to understand California politics to really understand what is going on. This place is run by extremeists... on both sides. And so moderates nearly always fail. Governor Schwarzeneggar believes Maldonado is exactly what the state needs... someone who is not afraid reach across political lines in order to get the job done. But a lot needs to change politically, before someone like Maldonado can really move up in California.

So you have likely already heard the news... GIRL SCOUT COOKIES HAVE ARRIVED! And just the thought has me giddy. I love girl scout cookies... ordered seven boxes. Two of each of my favorites, Thin Mints, Tagalongs, and Samoas. Jenny told me I had to try the Lemon Chalet Cremes... so I added one of those. Goodness my mouth is watering just thinking about it!

Bristol Palin to Act on The Secret Life of an American Teenager

So we all know who she is, the eldest daughter of former Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin. And we all know her story... she got pregnant and decided to keep the baby. Now the famous teen mom is scheduled to appear on The Secret Life of the American Teenager where she will play herself.

“I am thrilled to be on this show and to be a part of a program that educates teens and young adults about the consequences of teen pregnancy,” Palin, 19, said in a statement.

Not sure how I feel about this. I mean, I think it is important to spread the message of how teen pregnancy is a problem that needs to be addressed. However, I am not sure all the publicity Bristol gets really gets to the heart of the problem. A lot of it is not her fault... but sometimes it appears as though her situation is glamorized.

When has a bullying boss gone too far?

I found this interesting article on the BBC website. While all the information comes from England... it most certainly applies to us here in the US. It talks about the difference between a tough boss... and one who crosses the line into workplace bullying.

Have you ever felt as though you have been mistreated at work? Did you report it? If not, why? These are some interesting questions. I feel sometimes we are nervous to report anything, because we convince ourselves it "wasn't that bad" or we are scared of being fired. This article shares some insight into what is appropriate and what is not.

WOW! TIGER is all you will hear about Friday...

The Tiger show will begin tomorrow at 8 am our time. Of course you will be able to watch it live... right here on CBS47. I am very interested in what he has to say... but even more interested to hear what others have to say about his little speech. Look at what some people are already saying!

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — First came photos of Tiger Woods jogging. Far more compelling will be the sound of his voice.

Woods has not been heard in the 78 days since a magazine released a voicemail that he allegedly left one of the women to whom he has been romantically linked, pleading with her to remove his number from her cell phone.

That changes at 11 a.m. EST Friday when Woods makes his first public appearance since crashing his car into a tree outside his Florida home Nov. 27, sparking sordid revelations of infidelity.

The big question is what will he say? The topic was intriguing Americans — Woods was a trendy subject on Twitter a full day before his appearance.

Almost as intriguing is which "friends, colleagues and close associates" will be in the Sunset Room on the second floor of the Mediterranean-style clubhouse at the TPC Sawgrass.

PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem, who made the clubhouse available and is offering logistical help, has said he would attend, and as many as four other members of his executive staff will be in the room.

A British bookmaker has set odds at 4-to-7 that Woods wife, Elin, will be with him. William Hill didn't stop there, however. It offers 8-to-1 odds that Woods will announce he is getting a divorce, 12-to-1 odds that his wife is pregnant and 100-to-1 odds that he is retiring.

"While Tiger feels that what happened is fundamentally a matter between he and his wife, he also recognizes that he has hurt and let down a lot of other people who were close to him," his agent, Mark Steinberg, said in an e-mail Wednesday. "He also let down his fans. He wants to begin the process of making amends and that's what he's going to discuss."

Instead of going on "Oprah" or another national television show to break the ice, Woods essentially will be speaking to the lone camera allowed in the room. It will be televised live via satellite.

Three networks — ABC, CBS and NBC — will carry the statement live. ESPN will have it live on all its platforms, including Internet streaming, radio and mobile. The Golf Channel will start coverage at 10:30 a.m. — call it a 30-minute pregame show.

Steinberg invited three reporters from wire services — The Associated Press, Reuters and Bloomberg — and he turned to the Golf Writers Association of America to come up with a pool of three reporters.

GWAA president Vartan Kupelian, who is retired from The Detroit News and now contributes to pgatour.com, asked the group's officers. That means Kupelian is going, along with second vice president Bob Harig of espn.com. Kupelian said the first vice president, Mark Soltau, declined. Along with working for Golf Digest, Soltau is the editor of tigerwoods.com.

Kupelian said he still does not have a third GWAA member, and he is lobbying Woods' camp for a larger pool. A large faction of the GWAA board wants to boycott the appearance because of Steinberg's rules — no questions are allowed.

"This is not a press conference," Steinberg said Wednesday, the same day photos of Woods jogging in Florida were released.

Woods has always been about control, even in better times. He refused to go into the media center before a PGA Tour event if he was not the defending champion. If he agreed to a 10-minute interview to pitch a product he endorses, it was common for a company employee to be in the room making sure it didn't go one second beyond that.

But having not heard from Woods — except for three statements on his Web site — in three months, this event has taken on a life of its own.

Conversation raged online, as many took glee in speculating on what Woods will say Friday.

The golfer was the hottest topic on Google Trends. On Twitter, Tiger Woods was a dominant topic.

One of the most popular threads were tweets with the tag "tigershouldsay." Suggestions were predominantly sarcastic, such as: "At least I didn't use steroids."

Live events during work hours on weekdays have traditionally meant for robust traffic on the Web, since many viewers will be at work in front of computers, rather than home in front of TVs.

The PGA Tour will have two tournaments in progress Friday, including the third round of the Accenture Match Play Championship, the first title sponsor to drop Woods during this sex scandal. Some players did not think it was a coincidence.

Most of them, however, will be just like everyone else — curious what Woods has to say, and how he says it.

"It has to be held at some stage," Padraig Harrington said. "The sooner he makes a statement, the better. And the sooner he's back to playing golf — he's pretty good at playing golf — the better."

Heidi Montag Poses for Playboy

Recently I blogged about the sad case of Heidi Montag. She recently went under the knife for 10 plastic surgeries... all at once. Well now the latest is that she will pose for Playboy once again... only this time showing off a little more. Last time she posed she was scantily clad... now apparently, she wants to show off her new assets.

This story is so sad to me. There are rumors that her mother is in shock... and still hasn't seen her daughter post surgery. They poor mother never even knew her daughter was going in for surgery in the first place. At least there are pictures of her "new" daughter all over the internet... so her mother can actually recognize her when she actually sees her for the first time.

Again, I am not completely against plastic surgery. But a complete body and face change is too extreme in my opinion. She keeps this up, she will look like the cat lady.

I LOVE the Dentist!

Am I weird or what?!?! Since I was very young, I have loved going to the dentist. Growing up our family dentist was the greatest. Dr. Warner in Orange County... THE BEST! After we were done, we would get to look into his giant chest of toys and pick one. Two times a year wasn't enough for me... I loved the feeling of clean teeth.

Well years later... it's the same thing. I love going to the dentist. I now go to Dr. Wright... who is awesome by the way. He's located on Palm just north of Shaw. Anyways, I had my teeth cleaned a couple weeks ago... and to my dismay I have two little cavities. I think I have only had two cavities before... so this makes 4! But they are tiny... so that's good.

So I get to go to the dentist tomorrow... YAY!

Too Fat to Fly

So we have all heard this story once before... people who are overweight being kicked off the airplane. But this time... there is a well-known face to the story. Actor/director Kevin Smith is most known for his Clerks movies... where he played the role of Silent Bob (hilarious I must add). He was kicked off a Southwest flight this weekend. Smith has always admitted he is fat... and always buys two tickets. But when he decided to fly standby on an earlier flight... there was only one seat left. He was offerred the seat... but once there... kicked off for being too fat.

"If a customer cannot comfortably lower the armrest and infringes on a portion of another seat, a customer seated adjacent would be very uncomfortable and a timely exit from the aircraft in the event of an emergency might be compromised if we allow a cramped, restricted seating arrangement," Southwest said.

Smith later arrived at his destination on a later flight, but it was definitely clear he was angry with the outcome. Smith took to Twitter to voice his frustrations... most of which are too vulgar to share.

"I broke no regulation, offered no 'safety risk' (what, was I gonna roll on a fellow passenger?)" he tweeted. "I saw someone bigger than me on THAT flight! But I wasn't about to throw a fellow Fatty under the plane as I'm being profiled. But he & I made eye contact, & he was like 'Please don't tell...'"
