What did I want for Mother's Day? A trip to the ball park! Our friend Dr. Kelly Weaver from Fresno Pet ER (that's her on the left, with Mike Scott & Dr. Dobbins) invited my family out to the Grizzlies game Saturday night to enjoy the crack of the bat, a few hot dogs, and some Cru wine :-) Fresno Pet ER is a big sponsor of the Grizzlies & Dr. Weaver has season tickets, so she recognized the lady looking for "Mini Parker" participants and volunteered my son. We got to go down the players' elevator, through the tunnel, & out the dugout. Three kids got to put on their Parker outfits & follow him around the bases, stopping at each one to dance with him. It was a long run! (That's 8yo Riley & 7yo Trevor before the run.) As you can see, my son was "the little one!" We were happy he just made the long run through the grass, let alone remembering to dance at each stop! (The Grizzlies lady next to me was worried, but he kept on going!)
He was about half a base run behind when he made it to the third base umpire. The crowd roared with laughter as he stopped & looked up at the third base umpire, not lifting his leg to "pee" on him as the others had done. Then he joined the others & shook his tail.
Parker scooped him up & carried him the rest of the way back. It was a really special moment! Thanks, Parker! One little girl was chosen for Mini Parkers but wasn't able to do the run, so her mother came down & snapped a picture (This is Eden with Parker!) - and was kind enough to take the one with Heath for me, too! It was a beautiful night for baseball. With mid 90s during the day, that meant low 80s to upper 70s during the game.. perfect! If you haven't been to a Grizzlies game, you have to go! Click here - to get your tickets & view upcoming events and gamesAfter seven innings & three hot dogs, we headed over to the carnival. It's new this year, over near right field. For $10, Heath could ride anything he wanted! After tackling, the inflatable slide, we headed over toward the ferris wheel. Dr. Weaver wanted to take Heath up, but he wasn't quite ready for it yet! He stuck to the bounce house instead, and we called it a night! Thanks again to the Grizzlies, Dr. Weaver, & my family for making it a great night! Hope everyone else had a wonderful Mother's Day, too! Do you have old carpet in your home? Besides being unattractive.. have you thought about how dirty it is after years of dust & dirt piling up?

... And have you thought about how much you come in contact with that carpet?

We recently moved into an older ranch home, and after changing the paint & the furniture to modernize it, we realized we had to do something with the carpets.

There's just no saving brown carpets.. with pink in the closets!

So we called Flooring Liquidators in Clovis & spoke with Chico. I told him I lived in the country & wanted something that looked light but wouldn't show dust.

He showed up the next day with this sample - looks almost white, but with brown & dark brown mixed in, it hides dirt. Perfect!

I love that Chico was so friendly, came to my home so I could see it in the light, and saved me the agony of having of trying to make a decision from too many choices. I instantly knew this was the one & didn't have to do anything else.
(BONUS - Not only do they have killer deals because they buy extra lots, but they had a special relationship with this manufacturer & got an even more amazing deal! Wow!)

So we got to work replacing ALL of the carpets in my home (yes, that's mauve textured berber in my den!).

And what a difference it made! Even with the same cozy wood-paneled walls, the room has a fresh, clean feel to it!
Check out my game room - BEFORE:

AFTER!
Now all the modern furniture & gray paint works - plus the room looks larger & more inviting!

We got the top-rated carpet pad, so it feels amazing, and we dig our toes in all the time (do you realize how much you're touching your carpet?).

They even got it nice & tight around the stone fireplace in my den... bravo!
I can't recommend them enough... and they're part of my special LIVE edition of Jenny Around Town today. Click here - to watch the video

Join me at Flooring Liquidators on Clovis Ave (& 8th)... and for the next week, get $470 OFF every $2500 you spend, OR get $47 installation (normally $88) - but only through May 11th!

Thanks again to Chef Kyle & Sous Chef Kyle for another great recipe from the Institute of Technology's Culinary Arts Program. They were yummy (the tacos)! Enjoy your fish tacos - but I recommend jalapenos instead of habaneros! HOT! Mango habanero salsa 2 mangos, skinned and seeded 4 habanero chilis, whole stems removed 2 roma tomatoes, whole stem removed ½ yellow onion, husk left on 4 cloves of garlic, unpeeled ½ cup chopped cilantro ½ cup small diced red onion Salt, pepper and sugar Juice from 2 limes or lemons tomatillos Method Preheat a bbq grill on high. Grill the mango, habaneros (on foil) tomatoes onion and garlic (on foil) until charred black. Put the charred ingredients in a bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Let steam ½ hour Peel the char off all the ingredients and discard any husks or burnt skin. A paper towel works well for this. Process the peeled ingredients with the lime juice in a food processor until smooth. Fold in the red onion and cilantro. Season to taste with salt, pepper and sugar. California Fish Tacos Serves 4 2 lbs. Fresh Halibut Fillets or other White Fish Fillets Cajun Spice 16 White Corn Tortillas Fresh Baby Greens Red Cabbage Carrots Radishes Cilantro Mango Salsa Dredge the fish in the Cajun spice and pan sear in a little olive oil until just done and opaque in the center. Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet. Arrange 2 tortillas on a plate, overlapping each other. Each taco will have 2 tortillas. Flake the fish and place 3 or 4 oz. of fish on the tortillas. Top with greens, shredded cabbage, grated carrots & radishes, cilantro and Mango Salsa.
Continue making tacos, serving 2 tacos per person. ENJOY!

I couldn't help myself.... with the new lightweight batteries, I could hoist these tools, trim some hedges, blow the yard... you name it!
...Even pretend to be "Ah-nold," haha!

Thanks to Nat Weems for coming out to talk about Stihl Dealer Days (where they're "slashing" prices!) during this week's Jenny Around Town.
Click here - to watch the interview (& Jenny "weilding" power tools!)

We love supporting local businesses - and so does Stihl! They only sell through local authorized retailers. Click here - to find a retailer close to you, so you can try them out too!

Chainsaws can be so heavy, especially when they're full of gas, but the rechargeable lithium ion battery means you don't have smelly gas or annoying cords to deal with...

...plus, they don't run down! Everyone thinks rechargeable batteries lose their power or don't last, but these batteries come in three sizes - lasting up to 80 minutes!

Stihl is the #1 seller of outdoor power equipment in America, and right now you can get the best deals at "Dealer Days"... like the one below! Click here - to find a store near you!

We were toasting the wine makers & grape growers at the Madera Vintners Association awards night last night - and what a celebration it was! Click here - to see the photos on CBS47 This Morning The association is celebrating its 10th Anniversary (although there's a long history of great wine in Madera!), and passed out "Jeroboam" wine bottle awards (that was my word of the night - it's the same as 6 bottles of wine, also called a "Double Magnum"). I love wine, and it's my privilege to help spread the word about these local gems you might not know about! I recently learned a lot while doing a "Special Report" on our booming Madera & Fresno Co. wines.
Click here - to watch the special report on how local wines are taking off! The event was held at The Vineyard Restaurant in Madera, which not only has an amazing chef, but an owner who buys local organic
produce & local wines. We need more businesses like this! Eat here to support local agriculture! Congrats to Peter Ficklin of Ficklin Vineyards for winning "Winemaker of the Year"! He's also getting a special honor from the State Fair this year. Ficklin is the largest producer of Port in the U.S. and has been making award-winning wine for generations!Click here - for more information Tony Kirk of Birdstone Winery is the president of the association & also won for Winery of the Year - congrats! There many great varietals coming out of Birdstone - and it's very close to Fresno if you want to go tasting!Click here - for more information Check out this amazing menu - paired with the Madera wines! The tuna was amazing. Even people who "didn't eat fish" at our table were scarfing it down! Sorry - the lamb was so good that I forgot to take a picture before I devoured it. It was melt-in-you-mouth good, the vegis were yummy... and then I got to the risotto. Wow! The creaminess was amazing! Even the bread was amazing. I would go just for the signature black bean garlic dip! We met great people at the event! Cheryl from Quady Winery came up to say hi - and that she watches every morning (thanks!). Our producer, Wes, loves Quady. I can't wait to go myself!
And Jarrod from the Yosemite Sierra Visitors Bureau was super nice, too! So many great things happening in the mountains - plus, he's running for honorary mayor of Oakhurst, trying to raise funds for the amazing Children's Museum up there! Go Jarrod!Click here - for all the great fundraising events he's planned - including Ducey's at Bass Lake this Wednesday! I really loved meeting Ray & Tammy Krause from Westbrook Wine Farm. Ray was our emcee & had a great sense of humor (kept you on your toes!), and I felt like I instantly clicked with his wife, especially over her garden stories! We were served Westbrook's Petite Sirah with the lamb, and it was amazing - a big wine but still smooth. Always great when you can find that. Their winery is in the foothills, around 1,500' - 2,000' elevation, just off Hwy 41 (at O'Neals turnoff, just south of Coarsegold). I can't wait to check them out & try all of their wines!Click here - for more information! I also met lovely people from other wineries & promised to visit soon! San Joaquin Wine Company had a great "Moody Press" zinfandel & moscato,

...and I have always loved Cru for its pinot noir... and they just released a whole bunch of amazing-sounding wines that you can only get at Grizzlies Games right now! Do you want to try them out too? The "Meet the Winemakers" Wine Trail is coming up May 12th - 13th, when you can not only taste the wines but meet these great people, too! I highly recommend it!
