(Pastor Gus Booth)
Minnesota Pastor Gus Booth of Warroad Community Church got an audit from the Internal Revenue Service because he advised his congregants in a sermon last year not to vote for Barack Obama.
Booth was one of several pastors who endorsed presidential candidates from the pulpit last September.
The Internal Revenue Service has closed its investigation due to a "procedural problem."
But in a letter - the IRS said it "may" commence a future inquiry.
(The church was being investigated for a possible a violation of its tax-exempt status.)
A legal counsel for the church said:
"Pastors have a right to speak freely from their pulpits. Something is very wrong in America when free speech is held hostage by bungling bureaucracies,”
