Another local PETA event today

'TURKEYS' WILL GIVE AWAY TOFURKY ROASTS IN FRESNO TO SPARE BIRDS' LIVES

Give turkeys something to be thankful for this Thanksgiving

What:  Holding signs reading, "Don't Gobble Us"... two "turkeys" will hand out free Tofurky roasts (kindly donated by Turtle Island Foods) and copies of the "Vegetarian Starter Kit" in Fresno on Friday as part of PETA's annual tour to promote a meatless Thanksgiving. PETA hopes to inspire the spirit of the holiday by urging consumers to give real turkeys the day off.

"Animals on factory farms never get a holiday," says PETA campaign coordinator Kristina Addington. "The 40 million turkey carcasses that U.S. shoppers buy each Thanksgiving represent only misery."

A PETA undercover investigator at a West Virginia turkey farm documented that workers routinely kicked and punched birds and bludgeoned the animals with metal pipes and pieces of wood. Workers also stomped on the animals' heads and intentionally broke their bones.

When:  Friday, November 20th, 12 noon

Where:  Blackstone and Shaw avenues

                                Wild Turkey

PETA is "People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals"
